As a result of the liberalization of the communication sector in Nigeria and also the upsurge of cheap internet enabled phones in Nigeria, there has been an increase of internet accessibility especially among the youths and other young persons. This has unfortunately increased the level of internet crimes and fraud popularly known as ‘yahoo yahoo’’ where victims especially foreigners are robbed of their hard earned money and more recently some including locals are lured back home and murdered in cold blood.
This project seek to restore the integrity of the internet by curbing or reducing to its nearest minimum incidences of internet abuse or use of the internet for wrong purposes, this would ensure a greater acceptability of the internet, enhance more access, annihilate the perpetuation of online fraud and then guarantee the uphold of digital rights of both users and other critical stakeholders in the internet ecosystem.
Over 500 young persons and 25 adults/teachers have been trained in the FCT and Nasarawa States of Nigeria with them pledging to uphold the integrity of the internet.
